Phantom Singer All Stars: King of kings

Round 2. La Poem rocked the stage!

The second round was aired across two weeks (Feb. 2 and Feb. 9). This time the show took a different form of competition: It was a match between two or three teams. La Poem challenged Forte di Quattro (winner of season 1) first, and Forestella (winner of season 2) jumped in this match. Yes! the winners of the three seasons came on the stage to be named as the king of kings. As expected, it was a legendary match where every team did its best to make a real good show.

Objectively, La Poem is the least experienced among the three teams. Its members have spent only half a year together compared to 3 to 3.5 years the other quartets have spent. So, it would be awesome if La Poem won. But it would also be okay to lose.

To my surprise, La Poem received the highest score and won the match, for which each member was rewarded with a set of Korean beef. On top of that, La Poem was chosen as the second round's MVP. They received a trophy and album support fund.

A complete makeover of La Poem

"Is this the same quartet we saw last week?" Many people might have asked this question. This week La Poem had a complete makeover and showed a very dramatic performance with Charlotte Lawrence's song "Joke's on You" from the movie Birds of Prey. Prior to the performance, La Poem introduced themselves as naughty La Poem (불량 라포엠) and swore to show a very different side of them. Hell, yeah, we loved the naughty naughty La Poem.

Music starts with the silhouette of the members standing before a full moon. As they begin to move and walk up to the stage, something exciting is going to happen.

From the early on, members' fiery vocals, theatrical expressions, and thought-out staging leave audience in awe.

As the song is heading toward the end, the stage is set on fire, accentuating their dramatic performance.

I don't know how many times I got goosebumps while watching their performance. The outcome of their performance tells me that it wasn't just me and that many people had similar experience. Kang, Seung-yoon (leader of a Korean boy group WINNER) who was present as one of the cheering/evaluation squad provided professional reactions that "La Poem's performance had great visual effects and stage composition. It was the most complete overall.

We La Views had such an exhilarating time in watching the episode this week, leaving behind the regret we had last week. I'd like to send my appreciation to La Poem.

This is a must-watch (not listen) performance. So, click and watch it. You don't want to miss it.

    1. Precisely! Who would've expected this kind of performance? They are indeed true crossover-ians, I must say.
