My Season's Greetings Songs

It's the end of the year... almost!

As Year 2021 is heading toward the last month, I began to listen to a couple songs of La Poem that remind me of last year around this season.

O Holy Night

La Poem's "O Holy Night" was performed in the event of BMW Korea, Untact Concert last year (December 11, to be precise). It was La Poem's first public performance of the song, which was a holy, heavenly, divine, and sacred time of the event.

It was included in their first album <Scene#1> as a bonus track. Unlike other songs, all members gathered in one room (as shown in the video) and sang together without each member recording separately. What's more is Sunghoon played the piano. His piano accompaniment was recorded separately and used for this song. La Poem's gentle approach to this song makes this song holier.

O holy night, the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth

Long lay the world, in sin and error pining
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices
O night divine, O night when Christ was born
O night divine, O night O night divine

Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices
O night divine, O night when Christ was born
O night divine, O night O night divine

Don't Worry, My Dear

It was December 29, 2020 on Jeju KBS TV Untact Life Concert where La Poem sang this song first time. As the word "untact" reflects, it was truly a dark period in which human contacts were forced to be avoided. Art performances were prohibited from being held in theaters or concert halls, and we just had to wait until things were getting better.

Under such dire circumstances, it was consoling to hear La Poem saying "Don't worry, my dear." Perhaps, La Poem themselves also needed these words.

It's still a dark, uncertain period, and the idea that we won't be able to go back to those days makes us restless. As we are left with one page of a calendar (almost), I listen to this song and try to convert the fear for coming days to an openness to new days. La Poem can perform in a concert hall at least these days. We can gladly go there.

Don't worry at all, my dear.
Let us sing together.

All of your aching memories, my dear.
Bury them deep into your heart.

Bygones are bygones.
Take them as they are.

Sing for those having left you.
Tell them you loved them without regrets.

You had many hard times.
Nothing surprises you any more.

All of your sad stories, my dear.
Just let them fall on your shoulders.

Bygones are bygones.
Take them as they are.

Let us sing together.
Tell me you dreamed without regrets.

Bygones are bygones.
Take them as they are.

Let us sing together.
Tell me you dreamed without regrets.

Bygones are bygones.
Take them as they are.

Let us sing together.
Tell me you'll have new dreams.

By the way, "Don't Worry, My Dear" is originally sung by Jeon, In-kwon. He wrote and composed the song as well.

If I added one more song to these, it would be Chaehoon's "The Christmas Song." Hoping Chaehoon's version is released soon, I leave the original singer Nat King Cole's version right here for a reference.
